Hello SREC families,

We have some great fundraisers coming up and I would like to remind everyone to save the dates on your calendar.

Wednesday May 16th Dine & Donate at Sweet River Bar & Grill

Hot lunch for January is up and running! Please check your family folders for Hot Lunch IOU's. Payment can be dropped in the black Hot Lunch box in the office. Thank you!

We had a great fall book fair.  Not only did we reach our goal of selling 300 books (Thanks for being such a good sport, LaDonna) but the school has received $2,000 in credit from Scholastic Books of which the teachers and librarian have already spent $500 shopping at the fair!  Thank you for all your help and see you at the Spring Fair.

Help us get the word out about our SREC Craft Fair and Pancake Breakfast!!
 
We are looking for crafters who would like to rent a table at the fair—the cost is $25 plus a donation of one craft item to our raffle. Last year we had about 15 different crafters selling all kinds of homemade craft items and we hope to have even more this year! Booth rental forms are downloadable from the school web site:

Please let your friends and family know about the fair and ask them to save the date—

• Saturday, December 3 at the First United Methodist Church on Montgomery in Santa Rosa
• The craft fair will be open 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
• and breakfast ($5 per person) will be available 8 a.m. – 11 a.m.
• This is a great place to shop for holiday gifts—all local!!

Hello SREC Community,

Out of courtesy, I wanted to let everyone know that we will go back to the original LIttle Ceasar's pizza for Tuesday hot lunch.  We gave Mary's pizza a chance but could not financially sustain the shift in pizza vendors. Also, juice will no longer be served with lunch, water will be the only drink option.  I appreciate all the help and support during this chaotic trial period!
 
The Friday hot lunch will continue to alternate between burritos, pasta, and chinese.
While I would love to offer only local, organic options, we have limits regarding the preparations, cost effectiveness, and serving of the food.

To date we have raised $1274.00 from receipts we collected during the eScrip redemption!  The redemption period has been extended to October 20th.  If people have receipts to turn in, just put them in the purple tube in the front office and we will get someone to enter them online.  I want to Thank ALL the folks who volunteered to collect receipts you did a fabulous Job!!  We will do this valuable fundraiser again in February.

We collected enough money to fulfill all staff requests for school t-shirts and sweatshirts.  Thank you for supporting this effort.  And to celebrate having our new t-shirts, October 20 will be show your school spirit day, so wear your purple t-shirt.  Did you miss the distribution on Thursday?  Go to the office next to the family folders to pick up your order.

We would really like to emphasize the importance of PRE-ORDERING hot lunch.  We order the hot items for lunches the day before hot lunch, i.e., Monday and Thursday. To help us order the right amounts, it would really be helpful to know who is ordering hot lunch by the prior hot lunch day (i.e. Get your order for Tuesday’s pizza in on the Friday before; get your order for Friday lunch in on Tuesday morning). 

Better yet, use the online order form (accessible from the Charter School website; mouse over the “forms” link in the banner) and order for the whole month in advance, then you can rest assured there will be a lunch waiting for your child.  Unfortunately, at times we do run out of food and the students who have not pre-paid are the ones who end up not getting fed, so it would be really great if we could all get used to ordering at least a day in advance!
