Our most exciting news is that this year, we have a garden curriculum. Each classroom (at least elementary) will be assigned a parent to help the teachers prepare the projects and take the kids outside to work and learn in the garden. We have that position filled in a few classes, but we need more parents to volunteer! Below you will find more details about our vision and goals for the current school year and beyond.

Our Mission
To provide students with an outdoor environment that
connects to and supports their academics
exposes them to the dynamics of natural ecosystems
exposes them to the importance of cooperative stewardship
teaches the benefits of healthy eating and
provides experiences in economics of agriculture

The Fundraising committee needs a volunteer to chair our annual Pledge campaign this fall. Tasks include printing and distributing pledge letters, keeping a database of pledge amounts, sending reminders and thank-you letters. This is a great job if you aren't available during school hours. It can be done from home, in the evenings or on the weekends.

The Participation Committee needs someone to help with some recordkeeping tasks this month.  If you are comfortable using a computer and are comfortable with excel, and would like a volunteer job that you can do after hours at home, this is just for you!

Hola, queridas familias de Santa Rosa Charter.

This Friday, September 16, at 8:30 am, there will be a special assembly to honor Mexican Independence Day as well as Patriot Day, the 10th anniversary of Sept. 11, and the anniversary of our national anthem.  The assembly will be led by our middle school A1 Spanish class.  Parents are welcome.

Calling all fathers... The Father's Club is meeting this Thursday at Sweet River Saloon in the Coddingtown Mall. The club meets at 6:30pm and it is always a good time. Come on down to Sweet River! We will see you there.

October 5th is International Walk and Roll to School Day.

The HelpCounter system links individual volunteers and their personal email address to the volunteer record for each individual.  Many of the people in our database do not have a personal email address associated with their name.  The system works most efficiently for both you and us if we have more individual email addresses in the system.  This is the way you access your personal record, receive news and information about volunteering, and have the ability to connect to Facebook's HelpCounter app.  Please ask the volunteers associated with your SREC family (mom, dad, g

GARDEN: 

Can you connect us with a craft fair location?

The Parents’ Club and the ECC program are planning another craft fair fundraiser for this holiday season. We would like to hold it in conjunction with a Pancake Breakfast (this part of the fundraiser will benefit the ECC programs).  We are looking at dates in November and December, and we need a location with a commercial kitchen in order to include the pancake breakfast. Do you know of a building we could rent or use for this event?

The eScrip redemption/collection period begins Monday September 19th and continues through Thursday October 13th.  Mark your calendars and encourage all your friends and family to do the same so we can collect as many receipts during the redemption period as possible.
