I first became associated with the school as a parent in the Santa Rosa Cooperative Playschool. Both of my children are alumni of the Preschool. The supportive atmosphere of respect and encouragement attracted me. At that time I was studying counseling and parent education. I received advanced training in Positive Discipline through the Family Education Centers. I was encouraged to go into teaching. I earned my teaching credential through Sonoma State University. I am now a trainer of International Baccalaureate, Positive Discipline, and First Steps, our Language Arts resource. I have been with the Charter School since its inception and have taught preschool through intermediate grades along with adult education. I have stepped in for two different Charter School Directors in their absence. Now I have taken over the Directorship and can support our community's growth in our coming years.

After graduating from college in Florida, Mary Jo Hamilton traveled around the United States for 10 years working in Props in Professional Regional Theatres such as Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, Alaska Repertory Theatre in Anchorage, American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco, Old Globe Theatre in San Diego, etc. As a Independent Theatre Director, her production at Actors Theatre of Dancing at Lughnasa was voted the Best Production of 1994 by the Santa Rosa Press Democrat. After 9 years as assistant manager at Books Inc, and 2 years as Box Office Manager/Graphic Designer at Sonoma County Repertory Theatre, she finds herself surrounded by the things she loves most, children and knowledge. She is a happy mother of two.
